World-Class Care and Rehabilitation for Injured Workers
Recover and regain your highest quality of life with world-class rehabilitative care from Gaylord experts. Our Injured Worker Program provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for a wide range of conditions, from minor strains and sprains to multi-trauma, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and more.
Gaylord’s Injured Worker Program is uniquely equipped to care for the most catastrophic injuries as the only long-term acute care hospital in the country with CARF accreditation for all inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs, including specialty accreditations for Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, and Brain Injury.
Named among Modern Healthcare’s “Top 20 Largest Rehab Providers” in the nation, Gaylord is part of one of only 18 Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems in the U.S.
A Unique Environment for Patient Care
Workers' Compensation Program
The inpatient program incorporates the latest technology and physical therapy methods to improve mobility, strength, and independence for patients. Gaylord offers all private rooms on a 400-acre campus, providing a restorative healing environment with outdoor spaces for rehabilitation and relaxation.
Work Conditioning Program
Our outpatient program is available at five convenient locations throughout Connecticut. Recovering workers have access to comprehensive care tailored to their needs, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, neuropsychology, physiatry, concussion care, and more.
Acquired Brain Injury Transitional Living
The only facility of its kind in Connecticut, Traurig House is a licensed residential care home with eight beds and staff available around the clock. With an average stay of 35 days, patients engage in an intensive recovery program that includes cognitive and aphasia day treatment services five days a week.
SCI Transitional Program
A three-day-a-week outpatient transitional program focused on advancing mobility, self-care, community reintegration, education, workforce re-entry, and long-term health management for people with spinal cord injury.
Therapeutic Pool
The buoyancy and 90 degree warmth of our 75-by-25 foot therapeutic pool enables low-impact movement, increased circulation, and promotes strength training without strain. Customizable features support injury-specific care, while the calming environment boosts mental well-being and engagement.
On-Campus Cottages
Families and friends have access to our on-campus cottages featuring amenities to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
The Best of Both Worlds
Uniquely positioned to care for injured workers, Gaylord offers a comprehensive approach to recovery by combining acute medical care with world-class rehabilitation. With both a long-term acute care hospital and an acute rehab hospital under one roof, Gaylord can admit patients directly from the ICU early in their recovery process. For patients and their families, this means less time spent at the acute-care hospital, more time focused on healing and rehabilitation, and ultimately, better patient outcomes.
