MARLBOROUGH, N.H. — A New Hampshire man is learning to walk again as he rehabs from a severe case of COVID-19.
Chris Stephenson, 56, was able to climb stairs on Monday for the first time since November. The pilot from Marlborough is learning to do a lot of things again, after recovering from a severe case of COVID-19
“We’re realizing that time really does fly and time is precious,” Stephenson said.
Stephenson was hesitant about long-term effects of the COVID-19 vaccine possibly interfering with his ability to maintain his medical certificate required as an airline pilot.
He ultimately did get the first shot, but came down with COVID-19 shortly after, and then was also diagnosed with leukemia.
When his condition deteriorated, he was sent to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene where he spent 45 days on a ventilator and 63 days total in intensive care, suffering many complications.
