WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, November 9, 2021 — Gaylord Specialty Healthcare, a nonprofit rehabilitation-focused healthcare system headquartered in Wallingford, today announced that Chris Hayes, former vice president of finance of Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, has been newly appointed as Gaylord’s chief financial officer. Hayes replaces retiring CFO Arthur Tedesco who served in that capacity for the last seven years.
A Cheshire resident, Hayes comes to Gaylord Specialty Healthcare with significant financial leadership experience in the healthcare sector. He joined Saint Mary’s Hospital – a member of Trinity Health of New England, one of the nation’s largest multi-institutional Catholic healthcare delivery systems – in 2001 as a financial analyst and has served as vice president of finance since 2017. At Saint Mary’s Hospital, Hayes was directly responsible for accounting, budgeting, productivity management, supply chain and revenue cycle.
A native of Connecticut and a graduate of the University of Connecticut (BS, Economics) and Quinnipiac University (MBA, Healthcare Management), Hayes serves on a number of community-based boards of directors within Connecticut including Diagnostic Imagery of Southbury, Naugatuck Valley MRI and the Harold Leever Cancer Center.
“Chris is a wonderful addition to our leadership team,” says Sonja LaBarbera, President and Chief Executive Officer. “I look forward to working with him on Gaylord’s strategic initiatives related to growth and innovation as we solidify our position as a regional leader in medical rehabilitation.”
