They are the “Think Possible” stories that defined Gaylord Specialty Healthcare in 2024.

As the year draws to an end, we proudly look back at our most popular stories of success and resilience:

1. Mandy, Gaylord's Canine Companion's facility dog, was the feature of this story on WFSB

2. After learning of 20-year-old patient's Ryder Scelza's love of Taylor Swift, Inside Edition featured his journey with glioblastoma and how his favorite singer brought strength during his fight. 

3. New York Times tapped the expertise of Gaylord physical therapist Corey Podbielski in a story about preventing golf injuries. 

4. After surgery to remove a benign brain tumor, 16-year-old ballet dancer Jack Godo has his sights set on going professional, thanks to Gaylord Hospital rehabilitation. 

5. Sports n' Spokes, a national adaptive sports magazine, featured the story of Anthony Picchione, 21, who is determined to return to the sport he loves after a serious motocross accident four years ago. 

6. Gaylord long COVID expert Dr. Jerrold Kaplan talks about the long-term repercussions of long COVID and the latest research in this AARP cover story.

7. A reason to celebrate! Our new Institute for Advanced Rehabilitation marked a new chapter in Gaylord's history, uniting research, education, and clinical excellence. The Hartford Business Journal explains why

8. Did you know that many of the same adaptive sports featured in the 2024 Summer Paralympics are also offered by the Gaylord Sports Association? NBC 30 reporter Gabby Lucivero explored cycling, archery, and wheelchair tennis with our adaptive athletes.

9. After spending six weeks at Gaylord Hospital recovering from a spinal cord injury sustained in a boating accident, Laurie Bizzario was determined to conquer the Gaylord Gauntlet 5k Trail and Obstacle run alongside the Gaylord therapists who helped her walk again

11. High school band director Tim Fischer's teaching career came to an abrupt stop after he was hit by a car and sustained a traumatic brain injury. WTNH showcased his recovery journey and his return to the bandstand.  

12. After being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome in 2022, Karena Buddoo was completely paralyzed and dependent on a ventilator to breathe. Two years later, the now 23-year-old and her mother are now employees bringing care and hope to Gaylord Hospital patients.
