WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, July 8, 2020 –Gaylord Specialty Healthcare is the first in New England to implement UVZone shoe disinfection technology from Florida-based PathO3Gen Solutions as part of an ongoing effort to protect patient and staff safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The UVZone shoe sanitizing station was recently acquired through a $35,000 grant from The Greater New Haven COVID-19 Community Fund (a joint effort coordinated by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and the United Way of Greater New Haven) that also was used to purchase protective equipment for staff.
A 2016 study by The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America states that more than 75 percent of people carry harmful pathogens, including Human coronavirus, on their shoes.
“With the CDC recommendation that all persons disinfect shoe soles before walking out of areas with COVID-19 patients, obtaining the best form of protection with PathO3Gen Solutions UVZone shoe sanitizing station, for our staff and patients was a priority for Gaylord,” said Dr. Stephen Holland, Chief Medical Officer of Gaylord Specialty Healthcare. “We are appreciative to the Greater New Haven COVID-19 Community Fund for making this a reality.”
PathO3Gen Solutions UVZone shoe sanitizing station is the first and only UL-Certified, proactive disinfection equipment that uses an exclusive and multi-patented combination of Ozone + UVC. It has been proven to be on-average 110-times more effective than UV light alone in eliminating deadly pathogens and is more than 24-times more effective at eliminating Human coronavirus.
The technology eliminates up to 99.999% of pathogens including MRSA, C. diff, E. coli, Candida Auris, Staphylococcus Aureus, Klebsiella Pneumoniae, and other similar pathogens; and leaves zero Human coronavirus residue on footwear in eight seconds.
"The goal of PathO3Gen Solutions is to prevent infections and save lives by creating cleaner and safer environments. There is nothing more rewarding for us than seeing our UVZone shoe disinfection technology on the ground, when and where it really matters the most,” said Scott Beal, Chief Operating Officer, PathO3Gen Solutions.
